Proform Abs Machine
Reviewed
Let me be
honest with you -- I'm not a big fan of ab machines. I believe
they are mostly marketing hype that caters to a crowd who wants
to get fit without putting in any effort. Meanwhile, in the real world
it just doesn't work that way. So when I was asked to test
out the Proform abs machine, I didn't have high
expectations.
A quick
superficial inspection, however, got me
interested.
First of all, I looked at the price -- usually it retails
for under a $100. On its own, this can be
expensive for abs machines. However, when I actually
looked at the specs, I thought it was a low
price.
The reason is
the proform abs machine is designed in a specific way that
allows shape and tone your abs -- and other parts of your body
-- using three different exercises. It has the ability to work
all of your core muscle groups in your upper body without even
having to change your position on the machine. Or at least,
that is what they would like you to believe. Do they actually deliver on
these claims?
I would say
that they do.
While I still contend that ab machines on their own will not
give you a flat, washboard, sexy stomach, when you combine this
machine with a full body workout I think you'll find you have
tremendous results in a relatively short period of
time.
One of my
favorite features of this machine is that it is designed to
position your spine in such a way that it isolates your
abdominal muscles.
You use this machine by setting in an upright posture where
your spine is perfectly aligned. I noticed in the past when I
have used other at machines that my back became sore and the
whole workout was counterproductive. With Proform abs, this is
no longer an issue.
Additionally,
it comes with a resistance system so you can work out your
upper body as well as your abs. The machine comes with flex
bands that have three different types of
resistance.
The fact is that even though this is marketed as an abs
machine, when you use the bands in different ways you can
actually work your lower back and obliques.
Finally, when
you're finished with the machine, if you wish to store it away,
it is not a hassle. It is designed to fold flat,
so you can slide it under your bed when you're finished with
it.
